Jane Addams Hull-House Museum to Re-Open
Sep 01, 2010
On Wednesday, September 8th, 2010, The Jane Addams Hull-House Museum (Chicago, IL) will celebrate the birthday and legacy of Jane Addams, an internationally renowned social reformer and peace activist and America's first woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. The festivities will include a birthday celebration in Daley Plaza, the re-opening of the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum at University of Illinois at Chicago, and a People's Block Party.
The newly expanded and revamped Jane Addams Hull-House Museum features restored architectural details that demonstrate the relationship between social ideals and the design choices of the Hull-House reformers, an exploration of the sonic landscapes of Hull-House at the turn of the century, a temporary exhibition of graphic novels that investigate the history and current state of juvenile justice in the United States, and much more. Stop by next Wednesday and be among the first to see these exciting developments. Click here to learn more.
Architectural Encounters, a new component of the exhibition program at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, was funded in part by the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.
