Graham Foundation Internship, Summer and Fall 2012

Founded in 1956, the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts (www.grahamfoundation.org) makes project-based grants to individuals and organizations and produces public programs to foster the development and exchange of diverse and challenging ideas about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society.
The Graham Foundation seeks students and recent graduates in the fields of art, architecture, art education, and history. Selected applicants will learn through active participation in the administration of the foundation’s grants and public programming.
Responsibilities will include:
- Greeting visitors and providing information about the Graham Foundation’s programming and history
- Staffing public and evening events
- Assistance with exhibition research, installation and maintenance
- Recording and tracking visitor attendance
- Assistance with ongoing archival projects
- Working in the bookshop
- Maintaining mailing lists
- Other duties and projects as assigned
The Public Programs intern will be organized, responsible and detail oriented. She or he will ideally possess:
- An engaging personality
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Interest in learning about and promoting the Graham Foundation’s programs and history
- Initiative and the ability to work independently
- Knowledge of 20th century art and architecture history
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and InDesign, is a plus
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other contact management software is a plus
Start date: May 16, 2012
End date: December 2012
Work schedule: Flexible, 2 days per week minimum when gallery is open to visitors: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays, 10:30am – 5:30pm, and for regular evening events.
